How to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog

Posted by : Dylan & Rainey |On : February 14, 2023

Valentine’s Day is a day of love, a time to show appreciation and affection to those closest to our hearts. And for many dog owners, their furry companion is an important part of their life, making it only natural to want to include them in the celebration. If you’re wondering how to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog, you’re in the right place. In this blog post, we’ll explore several fun and meaningful ways to make the day special for both you and your pup.

How to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog

Sending out Valentine’s Day cards

Dogs are known for their loyalty, and on Valentine’s Day, maybe they want to show their affection by having you send “puppy love” cards to their favorite humans and furry friends. Whether it’s a handmade card or a store-bought one, dogs can “express” their love and appreciation through heartfelt messages or cute paw prints.

Giving out kisses

Dogs are the ultimate kissers, and on Valentine’s Day, they love to give out plenty of pup-smooches to their loved ones. Whether it’s a kiss on the cheek or a big, slobbery lick, dogs know how to show their affection in the most hilarious and endearing way. Dylan and Rainey love to give kisses to the neighbors that they visit on their daily walks. It’s a sure way to make someone feel special.

Holding puppy playdates

Dogs love to play, and on Valentine’s Day, why not celebrate by holding playdates with their favorite furry friends. And surely they will want you to join into the festivities as well—dog will never exclude anyone in the fun and games. Whether it’s a game of fetch, a doggy dance party, or a cozy cuddle session, dogs know how to have a good time and spread the love.

Wearing matching outfits

Dogs love to look their best, and on Valentine’s Day, they surely wouldn’t mind showing off by wearing matching outfits with you. Whether it’s a pair of matching sweaters or a set of adorable bandanas, dogs love to twin with their favorite people.

Plan a special activity together

One of the most enjoyable ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog is by planning a special activity together. This can be anything from a long walk in the park to a fun-filled day at the dog park. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider going on a scenic hike or visiting a nearby beach. If you prefer a more relaxed activity, why not spend the day at home cuddled up on the couch with your pup.

Treat your dog to a spa day

Who doesn’t love a relaxing spa day? Give your dog the royal treatment by booking a grooming appointment or treating them to a relaxing bath at home. You can even take it a step further by giving them a massage or brushing their fur. This will not only make them feel pampered, but it will also strengthen your bond and help to reduce stress and anxiety. Dylan loves getting massages especially with his special oil to help soothe his aching joints.

Bake special treats for your dog

One of the best ways to show your dog love is by giving them treats, and what better way to do that than by baking them something special. There are plenty of dog-friendly recipes online that you can try, and many are easy to make with ingredients you already have in your pantry. From homemade dog biscuits to mini blueberry cheesecakes, your dog is sure to love the special attention and delicious treats.

Give your dog a special gift

Just like people, dogs love to receive gifts. If you’re looking for a way to show your pup some extra love on Valentine’s Day, consider buying them a new toy, bed, or even a custom-made piece of clothing. You can even have their name or a special message embroidered on the gift to make it even more special.

Create a special photo album

Ok so this one is more for you than your dog but I’m sure your pup will happily help you with this little project. What better way to capture your love for your dog than by creating a special photo album. Gather all of your favorite pictures of you and your pup, and put them together in a photo album or scrapbook. This is a great way to document your memories together and will be something you can treasure for years to come.

Volunteer at a local animal shelter

For those who want to spread the love to dogs in need, volunteering at a local animal shelter is a great way to do just that. You can spend the day playing with and caring for dogs that are in need of love and attention. Not only will this bring joy to the dogs, but it will also bring joy to you. And some rescues or shelters may even allow you to bring your pup too to help socialize the dogs (but call ahead). This would be such a rewarding way for you and your pup to work together to help others.

Have a special dinner for two (or three!)

Finally, one of the most special ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog is by having a special dinner for two (or three!). Cook your pup’s favorite meal, or treat them to a special dog-friendly treat. Light some candles, play some soft music, and enjoy a romantic dinner with your furry companion by your side.

Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to show your dog how much you love and appreciate them. Whether it’s through a special activity, a pampering spa day, or a special gift, there are many ways to make the day special for both you and your pup. No matter what you choose to do, the most important thing is to spend quality time together and show your dog how much they mean to you. So, get creative, have fun, and make this Valentine’s Day one to remember for you and your pup.
