Coconut Macaroons for Dogs

Posted by : Dylan & Rainey |On : January 3, 2023

We are always looking for easy to make and healthy treats for our dogs. Well, if you are like us, then you’ll be happy to learn more about these macaroons—you can’t get any easier than a cookie made with only two ingredients. We make these coconut macaroons for our dogs regularly and they are always a hit.

These macaroons are also healthy for your dogs. Coconut is beneficial for your dog’s skin and coat. Egg whites contain high levels of protein, riboflavin, and selenium, all of which are essential nutrients for dogs. So, you won’t have to feel guilty about giving these coconut macaroons to your dog. And you can whip up a batch within 30 minutes. And if you are feeling like a little snack, there’s no reason why you can’t “taste test” these as well.

Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff.
  • Fold in ¾ cup of shredded coconut to start and can add up to 1 cup.
  • Drop tablespoons of mix on parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for ~8 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Cool on wire rack.

Notes

Please make sure that you use unsweetened coconut flakes as the sweetened kind may have added ingredients that could cause digestive upset for your pup.
Just remember that you shouldn’t be feeding your dog macaroons all the time. You must resist the puppy dog eyes. You don’t want to end up with a chubby puppy. It’s easy to overfeed them though as they are such good boys and girls and deserve lots of treats. Maybe take them for an extra walk to something to compensate.
